Osteopathy is a holistic, hands on approach to health. It offers an effective way of diagnosing and treating pain in the body with the aim of creating optimal health. Joint manipulation, soft-tissue work and other techniques are used to enhance the mobility of restricted joints and spinal segments, rebalancing the interplay between soft tissue and bone. Osteopathy can help with back, neck and joint pain, arthritic pain, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, sciatica, postural problems, cramp, neuralgia, digestive problems, cervicogenic headaches, circulatory problems and more.
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing healing art with one foot in ancient tradition and the other in modern anatomy. Sessions start with the option of a warm Epsom Salts foot bath, followed by mobilisations and treatment to the whole foot, ankle and lower leg. Pressure points are stimulated with the aim of rebalancing body organs, systems and zones. Followed with foot massage using 100% natural shea butter. Can be taken as a stand-alone treatment or combined with massage.
Modern Medical Acupuncture
Western medical acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine acupuncture needles into specific areas of tenderness. It aims to relieve pain and muscle spasm through the stimulation of the periosteum (bone covering) and/or muscle tissue. It is a development from the traditional Chinese acupuncture but relies entirely on western anatomical understanding. It is often used in conjunction with Osteopathic and Integrative Physiotherapy treatment.
Sports Massage is a specific form of massage commonly used to enhance performance, prevent or assist healing of an injury. It is often favoured by sports-people but is also suitable for anyone who enjoys deep treatment. It treats deep layers of muscle and connective tissue, using a broad range of deep, targeted techniques including mobilisation, stretching and trigger point work. In cases of injury or for preventative treatment, taping can be used alongside remedial exercises to do at home.
Therapeutic massage is a broad term for deep, targeted massage to specific muscle-groups, aiming to relieve tension and pain from tight, painful tissues, and which can have a positive knock-on effect on painful joints. Treatment will normally focus on certain areas of the body, for example upper back, neck and shoulders, or lower back and pelvis, and employ neuromuscular, trigger-point, muscle energy, myofascial and soft-tissue techniques.
